نظرة عامة على الرحلة
The Burren lies on part of the Wild Atlantic Way. The name is derived from the Irish word "boireann", which means "rocky place".
The Burren Way is a marked walking and hiking trail from Liscannor to Ballyvaughan. It leads past the famous Cliffs of Moher through a landscape dominated by Carboniferous limestone. This is a porous rock that was formed 330 million years ago from marine sediments and reshaped by the glaciers of the last ice age. Over the years, the effects of water and ice have created the well-known bare, jagged limestone pavements, which represent the largest expanse of limestone pavements in the world. As water does not simply run off in this rocky landscape, it makes its way through the soluble rock, eroding caves and forming underground rivers and lakes.
Treat yourself to a well-deserved short break in the Burren and experience the magic of this wonderful place for yourself.
